Why community is everything for Nicholson’s
Nicholson’s is a family owned and operated company and it’s been that way since the 30s. The guys at the top – Dean and Ross Nicholson – are Waikato born-and-bred family men who took on the business from their father Graham.
Dean, Ross, and the company have always prioritised providing excellent customer service and giving back to the communities that support them. These priorities were also passed on from Graham who was a well-known and generous character in the Waikato throughout his life.
That’s why Nicholson’s is doing our bit to support the awesome work of these incredible organisations in communities from Matamata and Whakatane to Morrinsville and Rotorua.
Morrinsville Chamber of Commerce
When the Ranfurly Shield came to Morrinsville, the crowds turned out in droves and the Waikato won by a whopping 85 points. To help make this event happen, the rugby-mad team at Nicholson’s donated the Morrinsville Chamber of Commerce a signwritten promo car so that they could raise publicity and get to meetings in style. Nicholson’s now donate a Suzuki vehicle which is updated every 6 months to help the Chambers get around to local business events.
Pohlen Hospital
Offering a one-stop shop for healthcare in the region, Pohlen Hospital has been caring for the Matamata community for 50 years -. To ensure they can keep having a positive impact, we provide them with a new car every six months.
Morrinsville Theatre
The best thing about small towns is the close knit communities and Morrinsville is no different. The Morrinsville Theatre does awesome work getting the community together with their sell-out quarterly shows. Every year we do our best to supply sign written vehicles to help promote up-coming productions.
Eastern Bay Chamber of Commerce
Bay of Plenty locals have a goldmine of solid business advice should they ever need it thanks to the Eastern Bay Chamber of Commerce (EBCC). They’ve got a membership of 12,000+ and provide expert support to help local businesses thrive. Brad Mckenzie, the principal of our Whakatane dealership, is on the board at the EBCC, and he put us on to the good work that they have been doing. To help them help local businesses we provided a new Suzuki Vitara for them to use with branded sign writing.
Morrinsville College Gateway
Morrinsville College Gateway helps school-leavers find the right path when it’s time to move on by providing work placements in businesses around the community. Nicholson has placed several of these gateway students in our own business, helping them gain valuable experience.
Wingspan National Bird of Prey Centre
Rotorua is packed with beautiful wildlife and pristine natural environments. The Wingspan charitable trust have been doing their bit to preserve this gift by handling the management and rehab of captive birds of prey as well as educating people around these amazing creatures. We hooked them up with a brand new Nissan Navara to help them get the job done.
Ronald Mcdonald Family Retreat
The Ronald Mcdonald Family Retreat in Rotorua provides free accommodation and fun to the families of parents who are caring for a sick child. They provide a ray of positivity at a very difficult time. We’re always keen to support these guys and that’s why we organised a Nissan Qashqai to raffle off at their 2019 Supper Club event, with all proceeds going towards the cause.
Whakatane Theatre
Aside from entertaining the locals with their top-notch productions, Theatre Whakatane provide a great opportunity for amateur performers in the community. Since 2014, we’ve provided the team with a brand new signwritten vehicle to help them sell their tickets and organise their shows.
Rotorua Rails Trust
The tracks and paths that tourists and locals hike and bike in the Rotorua region are almost all thanks to the Rotorua Rails Trust. These guys develop and maintain a huge network of high quality multi-user trails across the entire district – the trails are used by up to 650,000 people a year. To help them navigate the Rotorua wilderness, we donated a 4WD ute, signwritten with the Trust’s name on its side.
EBOP Hospice
The EBOP Hospice makes sure the last years of life are dignified, helping the elderly live every moment the best they can. They’re staffed by a team of highly qualified and compassionate legends who go out of their way to help people whenever they can. Around four years ago, we had the chance to help the team at EBOP Hospice by providing a high quality vehicle for them to use and we continued our support by renewing it every six months.
Giving back
The community around each Nicholson dealership has always supported us and we wouldn’t be here today without that help. That’s why we make an effort to make a small difference where we can – to give back to the communities that have given us so much.
