Nicholson Auto’s community work with Theatre Whakatane
A few years ago on a quiet Tuesday afternoon at Nicholson Whakatane, staff were clacking away at keyboards and chatting to customers on the lot when something bizarre happened. Suddenly grown men and women in full body cat leotards and feline makeup were running wildly through the office and jumping on desks like animals.
Everyone stopped what they were doing instantly, mouths agape, wondering what on earth was going on. In a state of mild shock, it took our staff a few minutes to realise it was their friends from down at the local amateur Theatre Whakatane who were performing the musical ‘Cats’ later that month.
This was a highlight in a long friendship between Nicholson Auto and the team at Theatre Whakatane that started way back in 2014.
Theatre Whakatane brightens up our community
Theatre Whakatane has always been an impressive outfit whose productions are professional quality despite the fact that most performers are amateurs from the local community. They provide a fantastic opportunity for performers and creatives in the area, many of whom have gone on to enjoy full time professional careers in theatre and acting.
The entertainment and escape that they provide locals is just as important – nothing makes you forget your worries like a couple hours enjoying dramatic musical numbers.
Our work with Theatre Whakatane
In early 2014, Theatre Whakatane approached Nicholson Auto for help promoting their yearly major production. We’ve been fans of their work for years – so we agreed right away.
We decided the best way to help out was provide a new vehicle every year, including sign writing with up-to-date production logos, contact details and ticket purchasing information included. This would function as a mobile billboard for their productions, aiming to raise their profile and get more bums on seats.
