Help Give Rachel Her Life Back

Originally planned as an unveiling for the New Kia Tasman, Dean Nicholson and Brad McKenzie have turned this night into something much bigger — a chance to come together and give Rachel hope.

Rachel was living her dream as an elite athlete on a U.S. college football scholarship — until her health suddenly collapsed. She now battles Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a rare connective tissue disorder, along with three Abdominal Vascular Compression Syndromes (AVCS). These conditions make eating unbearable and have left her severely malnourished — she now survives on a feeding tube.

Life-changing surgery overseas could save her life and help her live normally again — but there are no options for this surgery in New Zealand. The most likely option at this stage is in Germany, which would cost around $150,000 NZD. There is also a possibility the surgery could be done in Australia, and Rachel is travelling there for an appointment in late August to find out more. If the Australian option works out, the cost could be significantly lower — around $60,000–$70,000 NZD — but nothing is confirmed yet.

How You Can Help

Place a bid, make a donation, share Rachel’s story, and RSVP if you can join us — every bit of support brings Rachel closer to the surgery she urgently needs.
