WHY DOES MY CAR AIR CONDITIONING NEED SERVICING?
A car air-conditioning system can be a breeding ground for harmful bacteria and fungus. This is particularly important for sufferers of asthma or allergies.
Regular air conditioning system servicing ensures the system is full of refrigerant, that their are no leaks, the pressures are correct within the system and that the hoses, seals and pipes are all in full working order.
HOW OFTEN DOES MY CAR AIR CONDITIONING NEED SERVICING?
Your car air conditioning system can lose up to 15% of it’s refrigerant every year, so for example a three year old car may have lost almost half of it’s air conditioning refrigerant, which can seriously impacting on the performance of the system.
We recommend getting your air conditioning serviced every 3 – 5 years. This can change depending on the conditions your vehicle is subjected too.
WHAT IS THAT SMELL?
The air conditioning smell is usually caused by fungus, bacteria and other microbes growing inside the evaporator core. The moist environment can be very conducive to the growth of these organisms. While car manufacturers have made the evaporator more efficient, it has also made it more prone to trap moisture, which contributes to the growth of organisms such as fungus and bacteria.
